A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm during an England World Cup match.
Eamon Harnett, 31, of Ascension Close, Popley was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent by officers from Thames Valley Police.
Officers were searching for Harnett after a 25-year-old man was left in a critical condition in hospital following the assault which happened in the car park at Chineham Village Hall, in Thornhill Way, on July 11.
Harnett appeared at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on August 15 charged with one count of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
He has been bailed until September 12, where he is due to appear at Winchester Crown Court.
