POLICE have reissued an appeal to find a man wanted in connection with a serious assault to tie in with a national TV news campaign.

Yesterday, Sky News was looking at policing across the country as part of its 'One Day of Crime' series.

As part of this series, the news outlet developed a gallery of wanted people which includes Eamon Harnett, who is wanted in connection with a serious assault in Chineham.

A 25-year-old man was left in a critical condition in hospital after the assault, which happened in a car park at Chineham Village Hall, in Thornhill Way, on July 11, the day of England's World Cup semi final with Croatia, at around 7.45pm.

Posting on its Facebook page, Hampshire Constabulary wrote: "We are taking this opportunity to re-appeal for information relating to his whereabouts."

Mr Harnett is described as about 6ft 1in tall, of broad build and has brown hair, was last known to be living in Ascension Close, Popley, say police.

A police statement at the time read: “We believe he may have information which could help us with our investigation, but despite our best efforts, we haven’t been able to track him down.

“That’s where you come in – if you have seen him, or know where he is, then let us know.”

Anyone with any information is asked to call 101 quoting 44180261526, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

A 28-year-old man from Amersham, Buckinghamshire, was previously arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with the incident and has been bailed until August 18.
