A MAN who involved in a police stand off after he refused to come down from the roof of a house in Popley has been sentenced to 18 weeks in prison.
Jamie William Chandler, 28, of no fixed abode, was arrested after he refused to leave the roof of a property in Tobago Close on Tuesday last week.
Appearing at Basingstoke Magistrates Court on Wednesday, Chandler answered charges of one count of unlawful damage to a roof and one count of threatening to use unlawful violence towards another person.
He pleaded guilty to both.
As previously reported in The Gazette, police cordoned off the area of Tobago Close and Bermuda Close whilst they dealt with the incident, which lasted three hours.
Chandler was sentenced to 18 weeks behind bars and was ordered to pay £100 in compensation.
