AFTER a major refurbishment project, Kempshott Village Hall now has space for more social clubs and events.

This refurbishment was a result of a grant of £57,000 being awarded to the committee of the village hall by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council to pay for improvements to the main hall and for a new multipurpose meeting space and kitchen to be installed.

The former social club area has now been transformed into a meeting room with a newly refurbished kitchen to meet demands from Kempshott residents.

The main hall has also seen improvements with repairs to the roof, new flooring and double-glazed windows installed.

Since the hall reopened, several new classes have started in the community room and interest in hiring the facility has grown.

Cabinet member for finance, service delivery and improvement at the borough council, Councillor Robert Tate, said: “The council is pleased to support Kempshott Village Hall with funding for improvements that will benefit local community groups.”

“In addition to the benefits to residents, the refurbishment is already making a real difference to the committee’s ability to attract new users. There are plans for further refurbishment and the increased revenue from new bookings will help to achieve these.”
