HUNDREDS of people flocked to the annual Winchfield Festival.

Festivalgoers could enjoy eight nights of music from a range of genres as a part of the festival outreach programme, which aims to bring music to a wider community.

The programme included a cello recital by Corinne Morris at Long Sutton Primary School, the K’antu ensemble playing Elizabethan dance music at the Forget-Me-Not Club in Hartley Wintney, and ‘Jamie’s Concert’ for the carers of autistic children performed by Noriko Ogawa.

Attendee Jack Curtis, from Hartley Wintney, came every night to the eight-day festival. He said: “I’ve been coming to the festival for years now and this year I came every night. What I really love is the variety of music.

“I come with an open mind, not quite knowing what to expect, and I’m always delighted with the performances. We’re so fortunate to have such a wonderful event on our doorstep.”

Elsewhere, actor Darren Royston led a Rufty Tufty dance; there was a Gilbert & Sullivan Victorian comic opera Patience; the Dante String Quartet; and The Spitfire Sisters.

The festival will return from June 13-20, 2020.
