MANY thanks to Mr O Blissett from Kempshott Lane who dropped a photo into the Gazette office last week.
It’s a photo of all the masters and one mistress from Queen Mary’s School in Vyne Road.
He states that he thinks the picture was taken in the mid-1940s.
In other news, I was having a rummage through the picture archive at the Gazette offices last week when I happened upon this excellent aerial photograph of Basingstoke. It was taken 30 years ago in 1988 by Cpl Tony Weerasinghe from the photographic section at RAF Odiham.
I have added some place names.
The Basingstoke skyline has altered slightly in the last 30 years but remains almost identical.
