A SOCIAL media group set up to reunite former pupils at Buryfields Infant School in Odiham has taken off.

On Sunday, 15 July, members of the group, which consists of people who went to Buryfields before 1984, met up at North Warnborough Village Hall.

One of the special guests at the reunion was Dr John Haselden, a former GP in Odiham for 30 years, who attended with his wife.

A static display of old vehicles was there, and people could enjoy a cup of tea and cake with old friends, which raised £92.49 as a donation to Cancer Research UK.

The date of the event was significant as the Queen celebrated the Coronation Review of the Royal Air Force at RAF Odiham on that date 65 years ago.

On that day, a flypast of 641 aircraft flew by RAF Odiham.

Anthony Helcoop, the organiser of the meet-up, received a reply from his letter to the Queen commemorating the day.

Last weekend, to mark the anniversary, there was a flypast by the Red Arrows, and then at 3.30pm, a second flypast took place by Mark IX Spitfire MK 356 from RAF Coningsby, flown by Squadron Leader Andy Millikin, officer commanding the RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.
