THE borough council is putting special measures in place to protect those living on the streets due to the current heatwave.
Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, working with homeless charities, are ensuring that water, sun cream and hats are readily available to any rough sleeper who needs them.
It also providing access to cool and sheltered spaces, with all measures in place until the current heatwave ends.
A post on the authority’s Facebook said: “Due to the current heatwave, we have put additional special measures in place to protect those people sleeping on the streets in the borough as they’re at particular risk of heat exhaustion, dehydration and sunburn.”
