PART of the A33 is set to be closed for three nights next week as part of ongoing roadworks.

Starting on Wednesday and lasting until Saturday morning, a section of the road will be closed in both directions from 8pm to 5am.

The area closed will be between Popley Way and the Binfields Roundabout.

During the works, signed diversions will be in place to re-direct traffic.

One diversion route is via Popley Way, Carpenters Down, Crockford Lane, Hanmore Road and Thornhill Way.

The other diversion is from the A33 junction via Faraday Road, Wade Road and Great Binfields Road.

Hampshire County Council says the works are being undertaken at night to minimise disruption to daytime traffic on this important strategic route.

The closures are part of £10.6m works ongoing by Hampshire County Council on the A33 in Chineham at the Crockford and Great Binfields roundabouts.

This work has involved widening existing approach works, widening the roads on the roundabouts, installing traffic lights, and upgrading pedestrian and cycle ways.
