AN unlikely ensemble came together to perform a harmonious concert which received a standing ovation this month.
Longmeadow Sports and Social Club hosted the twice a year performance from the Treorchy Male Choir on June 7, but this time were joined by Testbourne Community School’s ‘Bella Voce’ choir.
The Welsh established group regularly perform in the UK and abroad, and the Bella Voce joins a list of their collaborators including Tom Jones and Jon Bon Jovi.
Club manager Paul Driver said: “I love the sound of the Treorchy Male Choir, it takes me back to my roots and I wanted to share that passion with our local choir, Bella Voce, which I had heard so much about within the community.”
Tunes ranged from Welsh hymns and folk songs to an arrangement of You Raise Me Up which raised the audience to their feet in appreciation.
An encore followed with the singing of both the Welsh and British National Anthems.
