A NEW community centre which has proved a real hit has received a cash boost.
The Hatch Warren and Beggarwood Community Association has received a cheque for £830 from the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Community Foundation to run a service at the Beggarwood Community Centre, which opened in February.
The grant money will help run the centre's Soup Lunch Club which is providing a place for residents to meet up and build community spirit in Beggarwood.
Councillor Dan Putty, ward councillor and trustee of the foundation, presented the cheque on Friday.
The Beggarwood Community Centre allows visitors to have access to rooms for meetings, services and events for people of all ages, as well as a community café.
