WITH the warm weather in recent weeks, some areas of Basingstoke and Deane may appear unkept due to the growth of long grass.
However, due to the change of weather conditions, Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council has been out trying to maintain green areas across the borough.
Borough Council staff are currently prioritising areas where there has been rapid growth.
Cabinet member for regulatory services and the environment at the borough council, Cllr Hayley Eachus, said: “Our grounds maintenance team is currently working very hard to tackle the long grass we are experiencing across the borough.
“We know there are areas that need to be cut, we are working hard and prioritising these and ask residents to bear with us while we complete this.
“We have 22 ride-on mowers to cut over 6 million m² (equivalent to over 1,000 football pitches) of land we are responsible for and our teams are working evenings and weekends to try and keep on top of it.
“The warm wet weather we have been experiencing creates perfect grass growing conditions and it is taking us longer to cut the longer grass.”
