SEVERAL schools across Basingstoke and Deane, as well as in the whole of Hampshire, have closed for the day admist severe weather warnings. 

A snow weather warning has been issued for Hampshire as the "Beast from the East" continues to hit the county.

An amber weather waring has been issued for Basingstoke with heavy snow expect to fall from midday until 10pm this evening (Thursday, 1 March). 

Forecasters predict the snow and freezing temperatures will continue, prompting the Met Office to extend some of its weather warnings until Friday. 

Hampshire County Council has issued a list of schools closures across the borough.
