AN UNEXPLODED First World War shell was found in an Eversley quarry earlier this week.
R Collard Ltd has reported an unexploded German 76mm Minenwerfer Artillery shell was found at its quarry this week, causing the site to be evacuated.
The company reported it was believed the item had probably been brought back to the UK as a souvenir.
A statement on the company's website read: "As it was in very poor condition the bomb squad could not confirm if any ammo was still present, so they removed it from the quarry and took it back to their base to be destroyed.
"It just goes to show, how dangerous our work can be..."
