A NEW outdoor learning space will be available for generations of pupils to come after officially opening at Tadley Primary School.

Months of hard work by staff, the Parent Teacher Association and members of Tadley Town Council to clear a derelict area of the school play area has led to transforming it into learning space.

On Thursday, 12 October, chair of the town council Councillor Jo Page cut the ribbon to officially open the learning space for excited children eager to explore.

The space was made possible thanks to the work of Year 2 classroom teachers Samantha Wood and Kerri Culver, who had been brainstorming ideas and talking to the town council to allocate funding for the area.

Now students will be able to plant and maintain their own fruit and vegetables, see wild flowers grow, take responsibility for its maintenance or just relax and read a book in the new facility.

Miss Wood said: “We wanted this area to be an area for our children at the school. It was a big task but thanks to all the support we have this incredible area which we are already seeing the benefits of.”

Miss Culver added: “Children will be able to use the area for all subjects in the national curriculum.”

Each year group will have their own allocated planter, which they are responsible for maintaining and deciding what they grow
