BASINGSTOKE'S MP has shown her support for the town’s Green Week when she called in at the Green Market, held Saturday, 16 September.
Maria Miller visited the town as people celebrate ways to enhance our surroundings and environment.
Now in its fifth year, Basingstoke Green week showcases a range of events and activities to promote greener living in the borough.
Mrs Miller said: “It is a great opportunity for people to find out about environmental and other “green” issues in a practical and fun way, highlighting how we can live and work more sustainably and protect our natural environment.
“We are fortunate in Basingstoke to have so many voluntary and community organisations and individuals who are passionate about protecting and enhancing our local environment.
“Many of the community groups had stalls at the Green Market, which is an excellent opportunity to explain what they do, and hopefully encourage other people to get involved.”
Basingstoke’s Green week ran until Monday 25 September.
