ROADWORKS taking place this weekend could disturb journey times for many motorists.

The slip roads to the southbound M3 from the M25 in both directions will be closed from 9pm tonight (Friday June 16) to 5:30am on Monday, June 19, and there will also be overnight closures of the M3 in both directions between junctions 3 and 4 each night this weekend.

The work will see an extra lane added to the 13.4 miles of the M3 in Hampshire and Surrey, as well as improving the road surface.

The slip roads to the soundbound M3 from the M25 in both directions will be closed from 9pm tonight (Friday June 16) to 5:30am Monday, June 19 to install a new drainage system and low noise surfacing.

There will be fully signed diversions in place; however as delays are expected drivers are advised to consider alternative routes if possible.

Two clearly signed diversion routes will be in use: M25 anti-clockwise to M3 southbound diversion: Diverted traffic will follow the M25 to Junction 15 and join the M4 to travel southbound. Drivers on the diversion will have the option of using the A329M (J10) to access the Bagshot Area, the A33 (J11) to access the Basingstoke Area or the A34 (J13) to access the Winchester/Southampton Areas.

There will also be overnight closures on the M3 in both directions starting tonight between junctions 3 and 4 this weekend to replace the road surface with a new, low noise material.

The road will be closed between: 8pm Friday June 16 to 7am Saturday June 17 8pm Saturday June 17 to 7am Sunday June 18 10pm Sunday June 18 to 5.30am Monday June 19
