A MAN committed indecent acts in front of children in the Basingstoke area.

Police are appealing for witnesses following reports of the incidents in Oakridge and near The Costello School.

At around 3pm on Monday, September 19, a blue vehicle pulled up alongside an 11-year-old girl who was walking in Upton Crescent, Oakridge.

The man driving the vehicle committed an indecent act inside the car in front of the girl before driving off along Upton Crescent.

A similar incident took place on the same day between 3pm and 3.30pm near the Costello School, in Crossborough Hill.

The man was described as white, clean shaven, aged in his late 20s or early 30s, of medium build, was wearing a short sleeved top, and was driving a blue vehicle on both occasions.

Officers would like to speak to any members of the public who witnessed these incidents, or any incidents of this nature in the area.

PC Rob Penn said: "We would like to reassure members of the public that instances of this nature are rare, but to please contact police if you have any information or have seen a man of this description acting suspiciously.

"Officers are appealing for witnesses to the two incidents on Upton Crescent and near Costello School, and in particular any residents in the Upton Crescent area who have CCTV cameras which cover the road and passing vehicles."

A 34-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the offences and has been bailed until Wednesday, November 2, pending further enquiries.
