ELDERLY residents are being warned not to give out any personal details over the phone to someone they do not know.
This comes after police have had a spate of calls in the last three weeks of scam calls of people pretending to be officers from Hampshire Constabulary’s fraud squad.
Police have reported that the fraudster tells their victim that they are investigating fraudulent activity on their bank account instructing them to transfer all their money into a “secure” account which has been set up for them.
During these incidents, officers have reported that people have transferred thousands of pounds to these “secure” accounts.
If you believe you have received one of these calls or know anyone who has contact Basingstoke CID on 101.
