A MUM-of-two has swapped a career in psychology for one on the stage – and says she is loving every minute of it.

Miel De Botton, from Overton, was working as a qualified clinical psychologist and family therapist when being in the right place at the right time led to a complete career change.

A chance meeting with producer Andy Wright saw Miel show him some of her work singing traditional French chansons with a modern twist.

Since the meeting the 48-year-old has written and recorded her own album – produced by Mr Wright – as well as touring around the UK with TV star John Barrowman.

She said: “It has been a steep learning curve and a wonderful journey so far.

“I am loving every minute of it and I feel like I am growing every single time I step on to a stage.

“Even though I have an education in science, music has always been my secret passion and something that I always wanted to pursue and I feel so lucky to be on this road.”

Since diving head first into her new career, the mum-of-two believes her background in psychology has aided in connecting with the music and her audience.

“Psychology taught me to connect with people in a deep way,” added Miel.

“That is what I aim to do when I sing, to share human emotion and make us all feel connected.”

When she isn’t singing, Miel is an avid supporter of the animal conservation charity WWF and her single Birds Without Borders is helping to raise money for an RSPB campaign.

Miel has recently released her third single from her debut album Magnetic and 2016 will see her perform at Laverstoke festival Carfest.
