THE public were surprised by spontaneous singing last Saturday as members of a Basingstoke choir took part in a mystery tour of the town.
Basingstoke Rock Choir visited various locations around Basingstoke and Deane throughout the day, arriving by coach before launching into surprise performances, all in aid of a local charity.
The choir, which meets at Cranbourne Business and Enterprise College on Thursdays, started off their mystery tour at Milestones Museum, at Basingstoke Leisure Park, before heading to locations including the Waitrose and John Lewis at home store in Basing View, The Malls and Basingstoke hospital.
The tour raised money for Ark Cancer Centre Charity.
Mark Jones, director of fundraising and communications for Ark Cancer Centre Charity, said: “It is great to have the support of the fabulous Basingstoke Rock Choir members.
"Thank you to everyone who took part in the bus tour for helping to raise awareness of the charity as well as much-appreciated donations towards the charity’s £5million appeal to help fund the new cancer treatment centre.”
