A MOTORCYCLIST who died in a crash in Basingstoke yesterday has been named as Jamie Hill.
The 25-year-old, from Sycamore Way, Winklebury, Basingstoke, was pronounced dead following the crash between the motorcycle and a white Nissan car, at the junction of Oakridge Road and Sherborne Road, at around 2.20pm yesterday afternoon.
Two people were travelling in the white Nissan at the time of the collision. Neither were injured.
Hampshire Constabulary is investigating the fatal collision and closed the roads yesterday to examine the scene for potential evidence.
Further witnesses to the collision are asked to contact roads policing officers at Whitchurch police station by phoning 101. Mini-com users can phone 18001 101.
North East Hampshire Coroner's office has confirmed today that it opened the inquest into the death of Mr Hill.
It has been adjourned until February 1, 2016.
