A BASINGSTOKE bar has re-opened following a makeover project.

The Bakers pub, at the Top of The Town, closed on October 5 for a makeover of the pub and reopened on October 16.

Following the revamp, the top bar at the Greene King-owned pub will now remain open at all times, increasing the pub’s capacity and an outdoor space at the back of the pub has also been revamped.

As well as new furniture, paintwork and lighting, the pub has added Ultra-HD screens to bolster its live sport coverage for customers.

The project has also created three new jobs.

Joss James, manager at Bakers, said: “We are really looking forward to showing off the new look Bakers, the pub has been modernized throughout and is pretty amazing.

“We know that customers are interested in trying more craft beers so it is fantastic to be able to offer them such a range of IPAs to try as well as bottled lagers from around the world.

“The top bar being open at all times will ensure more room downstairs and has led to us recruiting more staff.”

Anthony Hemmerdinger, managing director of Greene King’s local division, said: “It is always exciting when the doors to a newly transformed pub are once again opened to our customers.

“It is pleasing that Bakers has been able to create new jobs through the changes made and the range of craft beers is a new exciting option for its regulars.”
