LOST loved ones will be remembered this Christmas during a special service at a Basingstoke hospice.

St Michael’s Hospice, in Aldermaston Road, is inviting people across Basingstoke and north Hampshire to attend its annual Light up a Life event.

This year’s event, which has been supported by Basingstoke-based company De La Rue, will begin at 6pm on Sunday, December 6.

The Bishop of Basingstoke, David Williams, Bishop John Dennis and hospice chaplain, Liz Lang, will all the lead the special service, allowing people to reflect and remember precious memories of loved ones past and present.

In addition, there will be performances from the De La Rue and Ooh Mama choir groups and the Basingstoke Silver Band.

Laura Hughes, marketing and events co-ordinator at St. Michael’s Hospice, said: “Christmas is a special time of year for many. Everyone is welcome to attend our Light up a Life service to remember loved ones who cannot be with us during the festive period.

"We will be shining a beam of light into the sky throughout the service, and each guest will be invited to place a star in our Labyrinth Garden.

“I would encourage anybody to make a dedication in memory of a friend or family member, as your generous support will help towards providing our quality care to patients facing life limiting illness in the local community.”
