A TOTAL of 50 firefighters battled through the night to put out a thatch fire at a cottage in Tadley.
The fire, at a cottage in Haughurst Hill, Baughurst, was first reported just after 9pm last night.
Two people fled the property and raised the alarm.
Fire crews from stations including Basingstoke, Kingsclere and Overton were called to the scene, but the roof of the cottage was completely destroyed.
It is thought the fire was started by accident, either through an electrical fault or a blockage in the flue in the chimney.
No-one was injured in the blaze.
