AN OVERTON mother who has been battling an incurable illness for more than 30 years has organised an event to help the charity which has supported her.
Kathryn Batten suffers from endometriosis, a painful and debilitating condition.
The secondary school teacher is hosting a bingo night and silent auction at St Luke’s Hall in Overton to raise awareness of the condition, and funds for Endometriosis UK.
In September 2014 it was discovered that Kathryn’s endometriosis had spread, resulting in excruciating pain and her coughing up blood.
The mother-of-one said: “Endometriosis UK have supported both my family and me through some extremely difficult times, including recently having three operations in as many months after the disease got hold of my lungs, liver and multiple organs.
"Endometriosis impacts the whole family but we are fortunate to have had the support of wonderful friends and Endometriosis UK.”
The event will be on July 4 from 7.30pm to 11.30pm. For tickets, priced £12 for adults or £3 for children under 14, email overtonbingobonanza@gmail.com.
