A NEW shop will raise funds for a charity that supports people suffering from a painful genetic skin condition.
The DEBRA charity shop has opened at Chineham Shopping Centre in Basingstoke, to raise funds for the national charity.
DEBRA supports individuals and families affected by Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), which is a painful genetic skin blistering condition which can be fatal in the worst cases.
The newly refurbished store specialises in selling good quality furniture and other large items, and also has a selection of clothes, books, toys and CDs.
Paula Parker, area manager, said: “Setting up a new shop was a big team effort and I’d like to thank our volunteers and everyone who came to help. We also need more volunteers to come and help in the shop.
“We’re a friendly bunch and new helpers will receive a warm welcome. Volunteers generally work one shift a week with hours to suit them.”
The charity totally relies on the generosity of the public to carry out its work to improve lives and give hope through specialist nursing care, family support and vital research to find a cure.
