STAFF from a Basingstoke-based housing association have been nominated for two awards at a charity awards evening tonight.

Sentinel Housing Association has been nominated for two awards at tonight’s Naomi House and Jacksplace Corporate Charity Awards.

The housing association will battle it out for the “Outstanding Corporate Supporter” award following work to raise £20,000 for the children’s hospice last year.

The second nomination is for “Outstanding Charity Champion of the Year”, which will see Lucy Wilson, an executive assistant at Sentinel, compete with other nominees after she led the partnership between Sentinel and the charity.

Staff at the housing association selected Naomi House as its charity of the year following a vote with staff taking part in more than 20 events.

The £20,000 raised by Sentinel will make a great deal of difference to the charity that provides care to young people and could fund 266 play sessions, 72 hydrotherapy sessions, 333 multi-sensory sessions, 444 massage and complimentary therapies or 55 music therapy sessions.

Cathryn Gee, Sentinel’s head of organisational development, said: “We’re thrilled to be nominated for these awards. Working with Naomi House and Jacksplace over the last year has been an absolute pleasure and really fun for our staff.

“It’s very kind of them to nominate us but we’re just very proud that we’ve been able to work with them and make a difference to the children and families they support.”

This year the staff at Sentinel have chosen to support Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance. Find out more at www.sentinelha.org.uk.
