PLANS have been put forward to build a care home complex near Hartley Wintney, with space for more than 150 people.

Initial suggestions for the site, off the A30 London Road between the village and Hartfordbridge, include building a nursing home with 60 bed spaces, 51 independent living units and 46 assisted living units, all for older people.

There is also a plan to build some affordable homes on the site.

Woolf Bond Planning has made a pre-application advice request to Hart District Council, on behalf of a company called Hart-wood Care.

The documents include two drawings of how development might take place, on a 19.7-acre site bordered by London Road to the east and Hare’s Lane to the north.

In both drawings, the assisted living units include a roof-top garden and look towards a bandstand with a pond.

The documents also include an email trial between Steven Brown, of Woolf Bond Planning, and Robert Jackson, development control manager at Hart.

The pre-application meeting will take place on Monday, June 9, according to the documents.

Leah Coney, parish clerk for Hartley Wintney Parish Council, confirmed that a presentation of the plans had been made to the parish council in a meeting closed to the public. Woolf Bond Planning did not comment on the story by the time The Gazette went to press.
