A MAJOR trunk road has closed this morning after a fatal lorry crash.
It took place just after 5am this morning, when the lorry overturned on the northbound carriageway of the A34, half-a-mile north of the A343 junction on the Hampshire/Berkshire border.
The driver, a man in his sixties, died at the scene. No-one else was injured in the single-vehicle crash.
Police have warned that the northbound carriageway, between the A343 junction at Wash Common and the A4, will be closed for most of this morning.
The southbound carriageway will also close while the vehicle is recovered.
Inspector Paul Winks, from Thames Valley Police, said: “I appreciate this is a busy Monday morning and I would like to reassure motorists we are trying to get the road open as possible.
“I would like to thank drivers for their patience following disruption caused by this incident.”
