ANVIL Arts, which runs The Haymarket and The Anvil theatres in Basingstoke, has changed its energy supplier to one that is 100 per cent green.

Christine Bradwell, chief executive of Anvil Arts, said: “As our electricity contract came up for renewal, we were determined to find a 100 per cent green supply, and we are delighted to have achieved this. What’s more, the price is fixed for the next two years.”

The Anvil Trust has also started replacing boilers with more energy efficient models, and replacing lights with LED versions, with the aim of reducing its carbon footprint by 35 per cent by 2015.

Ms Bradwell added: “We will be using less power without making any difference to the quality of what is seen on stage at The Anvil and The Haymarket, and the power we do use will now be completely from renewable sources.”
