TO commemorate the birth of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s son Prince George of Cambridge, the M&S team has been working overnight to be the first high street retailer to produce a collectors’ commemorative tin engraved with the Prince's full name and title.

The M&S team has pulled out all the stops with a team of experts to engrave each of the tins with the full title. The tins will be on M&S shelves by late afternoon today.

The tin contains Scottish shortbread and is being engraved – only 1,500 are being produced, each with a limited edition number etched on them, together with 'Congratulations to the Duke & Duchess of Cambridge on the birth of Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge' and the date of birth.

The engraving is the responsibility of a specialist team at family run engravers, Timpson's based in Manchester.

The first four tins will be sent to the new parents, The Queen, The Prince of Wales and the Middletons.

The tins will go on sale for £20 in selected M&S stores.

M&S has also launched a Duke & Duchess of Cambridge Scottish shortbread tin £6, 450g, decorated with a pink and blue pram.

M&S has already sold 15,000 of the pram tins (launched on Tuesday 23 July following the birth) – more than four times the expected amount.
