FOLLOWING triumphant sell-out runs in London's West End, The Play What I Wrote returns to the New Victoria Theatre in Woking from September 26 to 30.
Kenneth Branagh directed this multi-award-winning celebration of Britain's greatest comedy double act - Morecambe and Wise. When it opened in London, every review was a rave, every show a sell-out and it won every major theatre award.
The play was written and created by Hamish McColl, Sean Foley and Eddie Braben.
McColl and Foley, together known as The Right Size, won the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Comedy. Eddie Braben is, without a doubt, Morecambe and Wise's greatest scriptwriter, having worked with them for 14 years.
Hamish has written a play, an epic set in the French Revolution, called A Tight Squeeze for the Scarlet Pimple, and he wants to see it performed.
Sean, on the other hand, wants them to continue with their double act.
He believes that if they perform a tribute to Morecambe and Wise, Hamish's confidence will be restored and the double act will go on. But first, Sean needs to persuade a guest star to appear in the play what Hamish wrote This is the only show with a surprise celebrity guest at every performance. So far they have included Roger Moore, Ewan McGregor, Liam Neeson, Glenn Close, Neil Morrissey, Honor Blackman, Kylie Minogue, Dawn French, Brian Conley, Richard Wilson, Ralph Fiennes and Sting.
Who will you see gracing the stage the night you see the biggest comedy hit of all time?
