BASINGSTOKE Amateur Operatic Society (BAOS) is running an exciting Youth Weekend Workshop with West End, television and film star Peter Polycarpou, on November 12 and 13.

Students aged from 14 to 21 will be able to gain invaluable experience in musical theatre and acting, looking at numbers from shows including Les Miserables, Oliver! (BAOS’s 2012 show), Rent, Cabaret and Gypsy.

Peter played Chris Theodopolopoudos in the television comedy series Birds of a Feather. His work in movies includes Evita alongside Madonna, in addition to stage roles including John in Miss Saigon, The Phantom in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera and the original cast of Les Miserables. He is currently starring alongside Michael Ball in Chichester Festival Theatre’s production of Sweeney Todd.

Run by BAOS’s musical director, Simon Eastwood and choreographer Alex Stores, this event is kindly supported by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council’s Leisure Grants Initiative.

The workshop will take place from 10am until 6pm in Lychpit Community Hall. The cost of £45 per place will be fully refunded subject to successful audition for BAOS and commitment to the society.

A performance showcase will be open to BAOS, family and friends on November 13 at 5pm, priced £3 per ticket.
