WATCH comic double act Daniel Clarkson and Jefferson Turner take on the ultimate challenge of presenting all seven Harry Potter books in seventy-five minutes at Central Studio on Friday, October 3 at 7.30pm.

Their show Potted Potter will come to life in the venue, with the help of endless costumes, brilliant songs, ridiculous props and a generous helping of Hogwarts magic. This fantastically funny show features all your favourite characters, a special appearance from a very frightening fire-breathing dragon, and even a game of Quidditch involving the audience!

Following sell-out sessions at the Edinburgh festival and in London, this extensive national tour is a must-see for Potter addicts and a great introduction to the series for anyone who's ever wondered what all the fuss is about.

One of the duo, Daniel Clarkson, reveals that he'd love JK Rowling to turn up at one of their shows - let's hope it happens in Basingstoke!

Q: How did you first begin working together?

Daniel: I was a solo storyteller doing a one-man show round the comedy circuit and I saw Jeff busking in Covent Garden and it was love at first sight - as they say, keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

Q: How did you come up with Potted Potter?

D: The show came about three years ago for the launch of the sixth book, where we were asked by a book store in London to do all five books in five minutes. Harry's quintessentially British and it makes a change to have a real British hero, I think that's why he's caught the nation's imagination.

Our TVs are awash with brassy American superheroes who are rich and beautiful and Harry is just an ordinary boy who's had a hard start in life and some tough breaks, but his bravery and friendships make him special. Plus he has a wand and a very nice owl!

Q: How do you now manage to cram all seven books into such a short time?

D: We originally did a book a minute, so having 75 minutes is actually something of a luxury. It's a roller-coaster ride through all the books, including a very scary dragon. We do now include the seventh book, obviously not giving the end away!

We got our copies at a minute past midnight on the launch and then had to have them read by 8pm the following evening for our next show. So it was a bit of a whirlwind, but we have gone back to reread it since, purely for enjoyment.

Q: Have you met JK Rowling?

D: We haven't met the great lady herself yet, but we'd love her to come and see the show so we can get our books signed. We reserved a front row seat for her every day at the Edinburgh Festival, just in case she fancied popping in. We'd be thrilled, though terrified, if she turned up to the show.

Q: What's next for you both?

D: Book eight?! More touring of Potted Potter as well as developing, premiering and touring our new show, Potted Pirates.

Tickets for Potted Potter, priced £10 for adults, £9 for children, are available from the box office on 01256 418318. The show is recommended for those aged six years and over.
