YOUNGSTERS in Basingstoke are being invited to take part in the biggest Halloween party in town.

Crafty the Crow invites all his friends to a Halloween Spooktacular at the Viablew Community Centre.

The latest show produced by Basingstoke-based company Honalee Media encourages audience members to help Crafty track down the person who stole the Golden Pumpkin.

Kate Ashmead and Martin Parsons, the owners and husband and wife team behind the production company, have toured the UK with pervious shows but coming home always has a special feel.

“When I can combine work life and home life it is the best,” Ashmead tells The Gazette.

“We are really proud to be in the town and having the opportunity to create good working relationships with the likes of Viables and Anvil Arts to allow us to show off what we do.”

Having grown up in Basingstoke, studying at Oakridge Infant and Junior Schools and The Vyne, Ashmead hopes that their shows can introduce theatre to a whole new generation.

With the Halloween Spooktacular, Ashmead and Parsons are not only bringing back Crafty for his second Halloween outing, but there will be other familiar faces from across the Honalee Media world.

Ashmead added: “We found that children really interacted with Crafty last year and for those who have seen our pervious shows they will see some other characters from the farm [Marty MacDonald’s Farm].

“Our shows are very traditional and there is a lot of music and we really encourage audience participation, so prepare to sing along.”

All of the set design and puppets used in the show are created by the duo, and for the Halloween show they are encouraging audience members to come in their scariest Halloween costume and help Sally the Scarecrow solve the mystery of the ghostly goings-on at Crafty’s Halloween Spooktacular.

After the show guests are invited to play trick or treat with Crafty and receive a special Halloween present.

Crafty’s Halloween Spooktacular is on Saturday, 20 October, with tickets costing £8.75.

If you use the voucher code SpookyGazette when booking you can get tickets for £6.
