Lucy Worsley makes a welcome return to Basingstoke, this time with her show Queen Victoria - Daughter, Wife, Mother and Widow at The Anvil on Thursday, 20 September.

Queen Victoria: a little old lady, spherical in shape, dressed in black, perpetually grumpy. Right? Historian Lucy Worsley wants to make you think again.

Meet a complex, contradictory woman, who had a traumatic childhood, who loved dancing, who suffered calamity and bereavement, before coming out the other side as an eccentric, powerful and really rather magnificent old lady.

Lucy's illustrated talk takes you into the life, the palaces, and the rich colourful age of this woman who ruled a quarter of the globe.

British actor Brian Blessed, known for his hearty, king-sized portrayals on film and television, as well as being a giant of a man accompanied by an eloquent wit and booming voice, appears in An Evening With at The Anvil on Sunday, 16 September.

His eloquence and humour will have you captured from the moment he walks on stage as he talks about his career on stage and screen including anecdotes from Flash Gordon, Blackadder, I Claudius and Z Cars.
