HAMPSHIRE Youth Theatre (HYT) will return to being a residential project this year, with auditions running until March.
HYT is currently recruiting its 2015 company, with auditions happening at schools, colleges and arts venues across the county until March 25.
This year the project will once again have a residential element, with all participants staying on site during the two week intensive rehearsal period.
HYT is the county’s prestigious youth theatre programme that runs for three weeks during the summer holidays each year.
The project is open to young people aged 14-21 from across Hampshire, with the participants selected through an audition process.
Southampton’s Nuffield, which is running the project, is looking for the most passionate and committed young performers, who demonstrate potential rather than experience.
HYT is a platform for aspiring young performers to take their experience of the theatre industry to a new level, with rehearsals encouraging them to use the same techniques that professional actors would use.
The company of HYT 2015 will be performing Shakespeare’s Henry IV on the Nuffield’s main stage, in a brand new adaptation combining both parts of the story into one play.
This year HYT will be a residential project where participants stay on site at rehearsals throughout the two week rehearsal period, with accommodation and full board included in the participation fee.
HYT residential rehearsals will run from August 17 – 29, with the show week running from August 31 until September 5 at the Nuffield Theatre.
