BASINGSTOKE Hospital Male Voice Choir gave an end of term concert in July in the presence of their president, Mervyn Rees.
Guests to the evening, which was held in the hospital, first heard from Mark Jones, a representative from the Ark Cancer Centre Charity, who outlined the proposals for the Ark Cancer Centre.
The music on the night included an eclectic mix of music, from opera to operetta, musicals, folk and spirituals and featured six soloists from within the choir.
At the end of the evening's events, the voluntary donations resulted in a cheque for £2,000 being donated to the Cancer Centre fund.
The choir are now enjoying a break before returning to rehearsals on September 2.
The new season includes concerts in Alresford, Alton, Andover, Farnham, Odiham, Romsey Abbey and Winchester.
They will also sing in two Christmas concerts in Basingstoke and will be taking on board the music for the Festival of Choirs Anvil concert on July 10, 2016. On that evening they will be celebrating the ‘Best of British’ along with HM the Queen's 90th birthday.
Aspiring choristers are welcome to attend rehearsals which are held on Wednesday evenings from 7.30pm until 9.30pm in the Hospital Restaurant.
