ROCK veteran John Otway, who dubbed himself "rock ‘n' roll's greatest failure", performs in Hampshire this week.
Otway described himself this way in reference to his many unsuccessful attempts to produce a second hit single to follow his 1977 classic (Cor Baby, That's) Really Free with Wild Willy Barrett.
However, a mere quarter of a century later, he was back on Top of the Pops and back in the charts with the disco pastiche Bunsen Burner.
His "Beware of The Flowers Cause I'm Sure They're Going to Get You Yeah" was voted the seventh greatest lyric of all time in a BBC poll.
The spectacular failure of his round-the-world tour was just one of the many incidents to feature in his rockumentary Otway The Movie - Rock `n' Roll's Greatest Failure.
Expect madcap mayhem and some scintillating stunts from a man old enough to know better...
John Otway comes to Winchester Discovery Centre on Thursday, July 16 at 8pm.
Tickets are £12 from the box office on 01962 873603, or visit hants.gov.uk/wdc.
