THE return of the Awesome Foursome!
Friday, August 1 (8pm-11.45pm) is a date simply not to be missed at Basingstoke Blues Club, based in the Moose Centre, Churchill Way.
It hails the return of the man himself, former founder member of Basingstoke Blues Club, Mr Rod Garfield and his amazing band featuring: Rod on vocals and harp; the fantastic Iain McDougal on lead guitar; and the rock steady rhythm section of Derek Alford on bass and Rod's son Mark Garfield on drums.
Guests will include Rod's original drummer Terry Mitchell, Keith Rowley on Sax and Jimmy Johnson on piano.
I have today just got back from the bands first rehearsal in nearly 2 decades and all I will say is do not miss this one!
Rod was once described by Alexis Korner as "the best white blues harp player in the world". You name them and the chances are Rod has shared the stage with them at some point in his career spanning back to the birth of the blues in the UK in the 1960s.
Be sure to be there early to secure your entry as there is a very high probability this will be over subscribed and sold out early on.
