THE annual free Open Studios and Summer Exhibition at Project Workshops takes place at the weekend - May 12 and 13 - from 10am to 5pm.
This exhibition gives visitors a rare opportunity to explore the artists’ studios and mingle with some of the best artists and craftsmen in the area. Parsonage Farm and I Cook You Eat will be providing a BBQ and vegetarian food for lunch and throughout the day.
In addition to the breathtaking glassblowing demonstrations by Georgian Glassmakers Mark Taylor and David Hill, together with an array of artwork by all resident artists, visitors will be given previews of pieces including Vivien Mallock’s massive bronze sculpture of footballer Arthur Wharton for Wembley Stadium, as well as a winged Icarus by Nicola Godden for the Olympics.
Other resident artists include potters, sculptors, ceramicist, furniture designer, portrait artist, photographer, painters, knife maker, stonemason and letter-cutter, as well as a Bronze Foundry which attracts top quality sculpture for casting from across the UK.
Many of the artists at Project Workshops offer lessons and demonstrations for individuals and groups, including glassblowing, pottery, stone-carving and painting. Through demonstration and expert tuition, lessons are available to absolute beginners through to the more experienced.
