SOUTHAMPTON’S Mayflower theatre has a mixture of family entertainment, rock opera, musicals, ballet and a Christmas panto among the line-up for the coming season.

Children’s favourite LazyTown, in a brand new show – LazyTown Live! – The Pirate Adventure – will be entertaining young and old alike, transporting them to the high seas from August 26 to 30.

In September, Pete Townshend’s iconic rock opera Quadrophenia (pictured) arrives – a compelling coming-of-age story brought to life in this original stage adaptation of the legendary album.

Singin’ in the Rain is running for one week from September 22, starring Tim Flavin and featuring great comedy routines, dance numbers, and songs including Good Morning, Make ’em Laugh, and, of course, Singin’ in the Rain.

The West End production of The Sound of Music settles in for a four-week run from September 29 with Connie Fisher and Michael Praed heading up the cast.

For the autumn half-term holiday, the Wildcats are back for sequel High School Musical 2 Live on Stage, arriving for a two-week run, from October 26.

In November, the English National Ballet is bringing 1841 masterpiece Giselle to the Southampton theatre, the ultimate romantic ballet, while the Welsh National Opera brings a new production of Verdi’s moving opera La Traviata, Berg’s tale of one man’s descent into madness and murder Wozzeck, and the return of Puccini’s Madam Butterfly for its next season, from November 24-28.

The Vagina Monologues returns on November 16 for a week and Tommy Steele will be returning for the musical Scrooge – running from November 30 until December 5 – before the Christmas pantomime Santa Claus and the Return of Jack Frost, which is running from December 11 to January 16.
