AN OVERTON pub manager was overturned in a charity sumo wrestling match at the White Hart’s annual summer fete last weekend.

Manager Nick Davies came up short against his deputy, Simon Osborne, during an afternoon of activities hosted by the pub on Saturday.

The day featured a raffle, food stalls, St Mary’s Hall’s famous wine and water stall plus the manager versus manager sumo contest in the afternoon’s main event.

Raffle ticket sales and the sumo wrestling helped to raise £703 for the day’s real winners, Lordsfield Swimming Club, to whom the White Hart donated the proceeds.

Businesses were also involved in the day’s festivities, providing prizes for the lucky raffle winners.

So too were charities on hand, with stalls and representatives from Sepsis Trust, the local Guides and Naomi House hospice.

Mr Davies has thanked all those who attend and got involved in the day says he hoped to repeat the community event in either May or June of next year.
