BASINGSTOKE artist Sian Storey is currently painting publicly for a very good cause.

She can be seen on the upper level of Festival Place opposite Starbucks decorating a large animal sculpture as part of Marwell Wildlife’s Go! Rhinos event, in celebration of its 40th anniversary.

For 10 weeks throughout the summer, rhino sculptures will inhabit the streets of Southampton, showcasing the wealth of artistic talent in the area, while highlighting the significant conservation threat facing wild rhinos and how the business community can make a difference.

Festival Place has brought the project to Basingstoke by commissioning Sian to paint one of the rhinos, which will later be auctioned off to raise funds for Marwell Wildlife, The Rose Road Association and Wessex Heartbeats High Five Appeal.

Sian specialises in painting and illustration. She has successfully exhibited work both locally and internationally, including the Fairfields Arts Centre exhibitions Best of Basingstoke and Young Basingstoke Artists.

Sian also enjoys teaching art locally, having achieved a PGCE in Art and Design.
