AN OPEN air cinema is coming to Basingstoke this summer showing the new adaption of the Broadway musical In the Heights.

From the creator of Hamilton and the director of Crazy Rich Asians, the film will be shown at Basing House in September.

Put on by Summer Screens Open Air Cinema, guests attending the event on September 3 can choose from allocated picnic pitches, double deckchairs or private gazebos.

There will also be a fully stocked bar with a selection of craft beer, cocktails, gourmet popcorn and hot food. Alternatively, guests can bring their own picnics and drinks.

The 2K high-definition projection and state of the art audio is set to offer a truly cinematic experience.

Summer Screens’ founder Philip Cottle said “Our team is so excited to be able to bring this brilliant film to Summer Screens. This is the first time a major new release will be shown outdoors, and Summer Screens is thrilled to be the ones doing it.”

The film centres on the likeable bodega owner Usanvi, who saves every penny from his daily grind as he hopes, imagines and sings about a better life.

“Our audiences have been crying out for something new and this uplifting musical treat is exactly what everyone needs. The summer will literally be bursting from the screen,” added Mr Cottle.

Tickets are £10.50 for children, £15.00 for adults and £45.00 for a family of 4. There are no additional booking fees or charges.

Tickets are now on sale from www.summerscreens.co.uk.
