DID you know that there are more than 500 voluntary and community groups in Basingstoke and Deane?

Basingstoke Voluntary Action (BVA) has been providing professional, free help and advice to volunteers and the voluntary and community sector in the borough for more than 40 years.

One-to-one services provided include start-up advice for charities or voluntary groups, governance, volunteer recruitment, and fundraising advice.

We have a database of grants and offer help with applications.

Newsletters, bulletins and e-news about funding opportunities, local consultations, and updates from the sector are published regularly and via our website residents can access details of the borough’s diverse voluntary and community groups and book on training courses.

BVA works with a range of partners across the borough, such as Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, Action Hampshire, Hampshire County Council and local businesses, delivering or attending a variety of forums. We also manage The Orchard, a voluntary resource building home to 18 groups, and are responsible for Basingstoke Young Carers and the Camrose Centre.

We have partnered with Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council to co-ordinate the Mayor’s Community Grants interacting with Community Champions from ASDA, Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Waitrose plus Lions and Rotary organisations.

Local charities will be featured in this Gazette feature plus business interaction is most welcome from companies already supporting local organisations.

BVA members receive a discount for resources, such as meeting room hire, franking for those major postal promotions and DBS checks.
