MEMBERS of Oakley and Deane WI enjoyed a wine tasting and cheese evening at their November meeting. The wines provided by Caviste included a Prosecco, white and red wines and a dessert wine. Following a brief description and history of each wine members then had the opportunity of tasting them and recording their opinions. They were all very much enjoyed especially the Prosecco which was a light sparkling wine suitable for all sorts of occasions and considerably cheaper than champagne.
Many members are going to Oakley Hall for afternoon tea later in the month and details were given and names taken for a Christmas luncheon at the Jekyll and Hyde pub in December. Also in December, there will be two Christmas celebrations, one organised by group at Cliddesden, when there will be readings and carols, and Kempshott and Oakley and Deane will be having a celebration at the Baptist Church, in Brighton Hill.
At the December meeting, Terri Read will be giving on a talk entitled "Mrs Fidget’s Wartime Tips" and any visitors will be most welcome at the usual venue of Oakley Village Hall, in Andover Road, at 7.30pm
