CHRISTMAS Tree Festival: This weekend, at St Leonard’s Church. Tomorrow night, the church opens from 6.30pm to 9.30pm, with lighting the Christmas trees, carols and refreshments starting with the launch at 7pm.
On Saturday, there is a Christmas market from 10.30am to 4pm, with raffle, tombola and refreshments all day, then a concert in the evening by the Wessex Harpers and other local talent. Free entry, tickets from Rody Politt on 01256 882209.
On Sunday, there is an impromptu panto from 3.15pm to 4.30pm. Proceeds from the weekend to St Leonard’s extension project.
CLEM Keeble: The crematorium was full on Friday last for the funeral of Clem Keeble.
The service was conducted by The Reverend Bob Politt with tributes from Clem’s daughter, Trish Benjamin, grandson and granddaughter and close friend, John Dodd, who spoke of Clem’s busy village life. The committal took place with The Last Post and the dipping of the standard.
