LIGHTS switch-on: I am pleased to announce that this year’s celebrity Jamie Rickers, who is Buttons in Cinderella at The Anvil, will turn on the lights in Tadley, both at the tree and, new for this year, some street lights near to Sainsbury’s.

In the Ambrose Allen Centre, starting at 6pm, there will be Mr Crimbo, a juggler, a stiltwalker, face-painting and also a big Christmas market.

Outside, there is a merrygo- round, candy floss stall, hot dogs and soup, tea and coffee inside. The night will be a good one, free mince pies, glow sticks, and say hello to Father Christmas.

Park House School will play jazz from 6pm, then at 6.30pm, Tadley Band will be playing suitable music. From 7pm, there will be a short Christmas production by the Boundary Players. Cllr David Leeks, chairman of the event (me that is), said it will be bigger and better this year as it’s our 10th year.

TADLEY Common Methodist Church, in Newchurch Road: Is holding a fundraising event from 10am to 3pm on Saturday, which includes cakes, bric-a-brac, cards, books and refreshments for sale.

If you are around at lunchtime, there will be hot soup and rolls.

Money raised will go towards repairing the flat roof on the Methodist Church.

CHARITY Christmas cards: Are on sale at the library and lots of different charities will benefit from the sale.

CONGRATULATIONS: To our local firefighters, who raised £2,356 for Children in Need last Friday by collecting at the traffic lights.

Well done to those all involved.
